RON HOEKSEMA

RON HOEKSEMA graduated from the University of Michigan in 1969 and taught high school biology and chemistry until he was introduced to the art of serigraphy (silk screen printing) in 1978. He was captiated by the combination of art and lab technique and its melding of craft with experimentation and became a full-time serigrapher in 1980. In twenty-five years he has become very well-known for the style and excellent craft of his work. His serigraphs are sold throughout the U. S. with the majority of sales in the Southwest.

After years as a serigrapher his desire to continue his art work but in a different direction led him to his current work as an oil painter.

Ron says, "My objective was to free up my style and enjoy the wider range of possibilities which painting in oil offered. Though my style has a tendency toward impressionism, my ultimate goal is abstraction. The purpose of color and light in my landscapes is to captivate the eye and then release the imagination for a continual visual experience in my mind. Painting awakened my perception of my surroundings and pushed the boundaries of my vision beyond my eyes. I appreciate the chance to capture your eye and lead your imagination on a creative journey.
